"The 09 C6 Chevy Performance Corvette - "Refining the battle for domination on the cutting edge of performance sports cars"

We don't spend a lot of time here discussing colors, badging, and general ornamentation, but when talking about a new year, or special model, we'll do a briefing on those things. Generally around here we go with Black on Black as Waylon Jennings says, or are Back in Black as AC/DC drives home, but there sure is a lot more than that to choose from, and with the C6, underneath whatever color it might be lies the same fire-breathing "street rod".
There are 2 new exterior colors for 2009, and they are the Cyber Gray metallic and Blade Silver Metallic (the Machine Silver Metallic exterior is gone). The new interior colors are Dark Titanium and Ebony in leather-wrapped interior options, and these join the existing Sienna and Linen colors.
* Also, please note that pictures on the web only look close to the real colors, as the actual image, along with your computer video settings, and a dozen other factors, will almost never equal the true color, as you will see it in person.

There is a choice of the base coupe or convertible, the "hopped up" Z06, or the exotic ZR1. The base convertible has lowered their 2009 MSRP price vs. the 2008 price (with the 1LT option), and the upgraded 2LT option drop-top option now has the power top as standard 2LT fare.

The 2009 standard GM Corvette warranty is 3-years/36,000 (complete vehicle), 6-years/100,000-miles (rust through), a fully transferable 6-years/100,000-miles on the powertrain, and 5 yr/ 100,000 mile roadside assistance.
The base 430-hp (321 kW), or 436-hp (325 kW) w/ optional exhaust*, 6.2-liter LS3 V-8, which was new to the 2008 model, is carried over into the 2009 model year. Same with the 505-hp (377 kW) Z06 LS7 aluminum-block 427 (7.0L). Lastly, is the new 2009 6.2L LS9 (based on the heavier cylinder walled LS3) supercharged engine that is found in the ZR1 kicking out 638-hp.
* The optional exhaust is a "cut-out", "bypass" or "two-mode" type which is available on the Coupe and Convertible only (as an option). The Z06 and ZR1 come stock with a similar setup as standard.

The transmission is either the Short-Throw Six-Speed Manual or the Six-Speed Paddle Shift with Automatic Modes (flap lever style steering wheel shifting).
Also, ABS (4 wheel anti-lock disk brakes), Magnetic Ride Control, and traction control (limited-slip) have been further tuned for 2009. GM calls these, and the onboard computer that helps these systems work in symphony (towards both performance and safety) the "Active Handling System".
There are the LT1 and LT2 trim packages. Also, is the Z51 Performance Package for the base coupe and convertible which adds performance gear ratios including a shorter 2.97:1 first gear on the manual transmission (the Z06 and ZR1 surpass the Z51 option as delivered stock). The RPO R8C National Corvette Museum Delivery option remains, and is a popular item with some. It seems that you pick your new ride up at the museum with some tours and other added hoopla when you add the R8C option.
There is a new optional Bluetooth connectivity system that would especially be sweet for those opting for the manual transmission. Keyless access is standard.
There is the standard AM/FM/XM radio with CD player, with a Bose audio upgrade option which includes an in dash 6 CD system. Also, OnStar system with Turn-by-Turn Navigation capability is standard, and a DVD GPS navigation system with voice recognition and 6.5" color touch screen come as an option.

The 2009 Z06 (recognized instantly by the cold-air scoop in front of the hood) gets new 10-spoke “spider" design wheels (in gray, chrome, or silver), some upgraded acoustic insulation, and some different colors splashed around the options chart. Also, now a larger-capacity dry-sump (ZR1 style) oiling system is added. It upgrades to the old 7.5 quart system to a 10.5-quart (9.9 liters) capacity. This dry sump system is designed to keep the oil pickup submersed at up to a cornering load of over 1 g force. A head-up display (HUD) with track mode and g-meter are standard.
