LPE sells parts, crate motors, and more. Here we will concentrate on the LPE kits, installed at their shop, on your Vette. Your car can be new or used. Generally, on the Corvette, they work on models back to around 1995, but we're talking about the C6 in this case. You can have your new Corvette purchase delivered to the LPE shop first (before final delivery to you), use a transport company to move your existing vehicle, or of course, just cruise it on over to their shop yourself, and deliver it personally.

LPE basically wants 50% down, and must add 7% Indiana sales tax. All builds are scheduled, and the time they need to hold your car depends on the complexity of the build. It will probably be slated for a construction time of from 2 weeks for the mild builds, to, generally, a maximum of 12 weeks for the wild builds.
The warranty on most “build ups” to around 800 horsepower is 3 years/ 36,000 miles. Don't expect a warranty on any of the 1,000+ horsepower monsters, but if you are going for over 1,000 hp on a commuter ride, you are probably crazy anyhow. Most people race the super powered ones, and know exactly what they are getting involved with, as far as the supercharging and so forth (look over at our video section for a clip on one of their 1300 RWHP models getting to 226 mph).
Also, with the blower (supercharger packages) they require vehicles with under 20,000 miles, at the time of construction, for the 3/36 warranty to be applicable. Most of the work with the supercharger applications is on the outside areas of the engine, so they need a pretty tight unit, from the start, to apply the warranty, as opposed to some of the more traditional builds where they tear the motor down and can verify the integrity of the entire structure (motor).
The turbo warranty is 3/36 up to around 800 horsepower, and generally void at the higher output builds.
Warranties such as these are nearly unheard of with the hypo performance tuners. They back up their work!
Definitely verify this info, or the possibility of any changes to it, before making a purchase!

The basic engine builds available for today's C6 Z06 LS7 427 cubic inchers are a 616, 630 and 660 hp standard build, and two twin turbo kits rated at either 800 or 1,000 horsepower.
The basic builds for the C6 LS3 coupes and convertibles include stock engine size 378 c.i. builds, and a few that involve punching the motor out to 427 c.i..
For the 378(6) LS3, stock displacement, there is a 525 hp standard build, and a supercharged 600 hp build (which will also involve installing one of 2 custom hoods designed to clear the blower).
There is also a 620 horsepower twin turbo build kit.
On the “punched out to 427 ci” engine, there is a 570 hp standard build, and a 750 hp twin turbo option, along with another commemorative edition Lingenfelter model that is really expensive.
They, of course, also have an array of builds for the LS2 (pre 2008) engines.

Lingenfelter also offers many other upgrades outside of the engine work itself. These include body parts, wheels, upgraded drivetrain parts, suspension upgrades, outrageous brake kits, headers, high flow cats, cat backs, and more. Parts can be ordered, and shipped to your home, for you or your mechanic to install. They can also be added to any build kit that LPE is doing for you (for additional labor charges of course).

Lingenfelter
is known for their street friendly and race hard mods.
They are also not a company that claims to have made 50 full blown street launches in a row on one of their vehicles with no damage, unless it is a fact. This is unlike some other tuners who make these claims only to have test drivers shred their units after a few launches, while the tuner claims they have the part, which conveniently is not installed, that would have avoided the situation. You know darn well they (the tuners) are all bringing some of their most carefully examined vehicles to the media events. When a Lingenfelter breaks something, with a sane driver, it is generally on a 1,000 plus hp "full tilt boogie" race model, and they make no excuses, knowing "@#it" happens when you push the limits. This is why they pack one of the best warranties in the industry for all but the fully maxed out units. You also want to verify whether you need to toughen up the drivetrain behind any modified motor.
We will try to avoid, in these articles, any mods, parts, tunes, etc. that many people seem to have trouble with, but please feel free to comment on this, or any post, if you have any good knowledge or insights that benefit us all. Whether or not comments add to reinforce, or are contrary to views of the author does not matter. All but obscene comments are all welcome.

Another thing that shocks many people with these "amped up" vehicles is that 0-60 times are often slower than that of a stock vehicle. This applies especially if you are using stock tires. The tires on a stocker (though excellent) must always make compromises on maximum performance in attempting to achieve the goal of being one of the best "all arounders". Until you master the power output these units offer, the tires just flat out break loose, compromising acceleration, no matter what you have mounted on the rims. Don't forget that most of these babies will easily light the stock tires up at freeway speeds. Anything after the initial launch (when you have it rolling) though these cars will just flat out walk away from most of the competition.
Plus, let's admit it. If you drive these to the max on the street very often, you will not be driving for long. Just the sound of these engines is almost enough satisfaction in itself, and add to that the knowledge of all the excess you have on your hands, and it is a good thing indeed for many of us.
Lastly, even though you might have a 3 year/ 36,000 warranty on most of these engine builds (through Lingenfelter), we'll do some research on GM's reaction to how these modifications affect the other aspects of their (GM’s) new car warranty, and will make it the topic of a future article.
